A few questions about CPU TEMP

Hey guys,
I'm running prime95 atm (i5 2500k) and...
1. What is the difference between the cpu core temperatures and the CPU temperature in speedfan? (mine says 38C, while the cores range from 51-60C, this is after only around 10min, (edit) now it just went down from 58 to like 50 for some reason..)
2. Also on start up, my bios says its at 31C, while in real temp, coretemp, says my cores are at 41-45C? Why the difference?
3. My cores seem to idle around 41-45C?? Is that bad?

other info: I've reapplied thermal paste today also. Second time actually since first time I didn't do it properly. (though before the thermal paste change it idled at around 41-45 degrees anyway)

Effrego,

You might want to read the following...
41 dergrees on ldle is not too bad. But there would be two things causing this.
1.Your case dosnt have proper airflow so that hot air from cpu can be thrown out of your case.
2.You are using a cheap power supply which is unable to provide sufficient power to your system. It might seem foolish to you but yes cheap psu's cause cpu to overheat.

Are you stock or overclocked? What's your ambient temps? Idling 41-45C could be normal if you're overclocked and if your ambient temps are high. Also, what CPU cooler and what voltage if you are overclocked? My 2500K is overclocked to 4.5 GHz with 1.335 volts and is being cooled by aan H100i.

Upgrade your cooler to an aftermarket cooler. Simple and done. Coolmaster makes some good ones ~$20

I'm using the Silverstone Strider ST56F 560W, atm, not sure if that is decent.
Also I actually have a thermalltake cooler, contac something I think, the cpu is left at stock also btw.

Effrego,

You might want to read the following Sticky: Intel Temperature Guide - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1800828/intel-temperature-guide.html
