A friend looking for a work/gaming laptop

This is the laptop I was going to suggest to him as he was originally planning on an alienware. The program he will be running is solidworks and would also like it be able to do gaming. Now I more want advice with the software as it looks like it might be a bit more of a desktop workload. I might try and persuade him to get a cheaper laptop and get a desktop instead or a small form factor desktop but he wont be too keen on building it himself:/

if he's doing 3d CAD he'd probably want something like a DELL Precision M6800; that's a bit more work oriented, but it should have the horses to drive something like solidworks.

OP, that laptop looks pretty great in my opinion for both workplace tasks and gaming on the side!

His max buget and even this is pushing it, is about €1200(£900) so it's a bit much I was just not familiar with the software and was worried this would be a bit laggy for him but it is a nice laptop none the less an I guess should be fine as there is a quad core i7 with hyperthreading.
