I forget what exactly the practice exam question was... but basically the question was something like "The first place to check in Windows 7 when diagnosing ____ problem." the answer was use the Troubleshooting tool in Control Panel, Windows 7.

Now I got pissed and thought this practice exam was B.S. there is no Troubleshooting tool in Windows 7... I mean really who would name a tool something as simple as that.
Practically a mockery to all technicians everywhere simplifying the troubleshooting mystic.

Sure enough, its a hidden tool in windows 7.
If you set your control panel to Large Icon view there it is in all its glory. I been working on computers for a long time... just learned something new again. Kinda cool really.
I
know about GodMode... but this... wth M$.... seriously.. why hide this great tool. I guess its to keep techs in business. LOL!

Are you sure about that? I had to change my view to Large Icons from the original 'fancy" and clean looking version with all the explanations. Win7 Ultimate, here.

But its not shown on the view with all that blue crap everywhere, right? Or maybe I didnt look hard enough.

Im on a XP box at a office atm, so I cant check... but yea mine had to be changed to large icons,, which gave me the white background. I guess if you want play around with the view and you can see what I saw. Im positive it was not in view on the default. The one with the lite graphics and short sentences explaining whats what in each category.
Category view?
Any way, cheers. I learned something new.

Yup, its right in control panel for me also. The tool itself is rather useless though, just base line info.

Edit: not in category view though.

Does anyone actually use category view? Seems rather annoying to navigate that way.

Category view is the default, so it is hidden.
So all the generic users - they dont know.
I just like how it kinda cleans up the view from Event Viewer basically. Yes it is pretty generic.. but it makes you look like you know what you are doing if you start doing this infront of some complete noob of win7.
