A gaming machine

Hey guys:

I've been trying to build a reasonably priced good gaming machine for like a month! 😀
and I finally settled on the following specs:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz 8MB Cache Desktop Processor
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC 2048MB GDDR5 Windforce
MB: Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 Socket 1155 Motherboard
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 CL10 Single Module
HDD: Western Digital (WD) Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
PS: Cooler Master Extreme 2 625W PSU
Screen: Samsung SyncMaster S23B300B 23 inch LED LCD Monitor
Case: Cooler Master K380 Mid Tower Desktop Case

Plz guys.. I need your opinions about this gaming machine, and how good is it before I go and buy everything 😀

i think it okay but people normally go for dual channel for the RAM. also on the psu side personally i think its fine but many says cooler master psu are not really good. for psu part you might want to consider for more reliable brand such as seasonic, antec, corsair.

and what's the difference between single and dual channel RAM?... in gaming I mean

The hard disk is a green series these are slow and only meant for storage

Dont need an i7 gaming get an i5 spend what you save on an SSD or a bucket of porno

Avoid coolermaster PSU's get something from Antec, Corsair, PC power and Cooling, seasonic, XFX or OCZ

I dont want to sound nasty but as a gaming box that build list is a fail. Do you have a total budget you can post?

Seconded. Only thing that hasn't been mentioned is CAS latency (the CL10 part of your RAM description). CAS9 is standard, CAS8 or even CAS7 is preferable. It's not as important as graphics card or processor (nice choices by the way) but CL10 is pretty sub-par.

Swap the CPU out for an i5 3570k the i7 is past the point of diminishing return for gaming the cash saved is better spent on something meaningful like an SSD

Swap motherboard for a Z77 (Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H or Z77X-D3) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544

With the CPU savings get a 128GB SSD (for OS Plus top 2 games gives superfast load times) keep the HDD for storage. If you don't want an SSD then get a non "green" drive (one that spins at 7200RPM like caviar black or blue)

Get better a set of RAM for dual channel preferably low profile something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186

Toss in a CPU cooler so you can overclock further down the line

What about:

Processor: amd fx 4170
Mainboard: Asrock Extreme3
ram: G.skill ripjaw 1866 2X4
hdd: seagate 1tb 7200 rpm
vga: msi gtx 670 oc

FX 4170 (bulldozer) is a poor gamer. If you want AMD get FX8320 or FX8350 (the new FX piledriver) though as a gamer the i5 is better than either.

With the RAM stick to 1600 speed the 1866 is not worth the price hike.

That is a pretty low-end processor. There's not much point in going with a previous gen AMD processor anyway, might as well get a new FX6300 if you're going that way, still very cheap. You'd be better off sticking with i5 though. Good choice of card.
