I have been ofered by my ASUS dealer to exchange the faulty ASUS P3C2000 (MTH reboot issue) to a ASUS p3v4x. Could you guys please advise me on whether the p3v4x is a good motherboard?? I dont want it any worse than it is now, so it would be very useful for me to know what you people would advise me to do.

Thank you very much,
Kirka

I had a P3V4X mobo. It's good enough, just make sure you use Via's 4.29 drivers or above if your going to run Win2k.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

I see, sorry whats a mobo?
and are you talking about the bios drives and where can I get em? yeh I am gonna run win2k for sure

mobo = short for motherboard

one of my pcs runs a p3v4x. its a good board, although slightly outdated by now. i like it, and if you are running a lot 1 PIII, its a good board. as an exchange, yeah. go for it.

ignore everything i say

yes I havee PIII 733 and 256 SD-RAM. The old motherboard ware running very well, I never got any problems, my pc has not crashed a single time for 3 month running on win2k. Its just a shame that it reboots every now and then damn faulty MTH. I hope p3v4x is better.

Since you have an Intel CPU, I would suggest getting a board that uses the Intel 815E chipset rather than the VIA chipset. VIA is becoming notorious for compatibility and stability issues. Asus makes an 815-based board, the CUSL2.

If you can, get him to provide you the CUSL2-C. It is a good quality Asus board with the i815E/EP chipset. Since you bought an Asus board with Intel chipset, he owes you an Asus board with Intel chipset.

Cast not thine pearls before the swine

The p3v4x is a slot1 board. I think he is stuck with slot one as his only choice. So the CUSL2 is out of the question unfortunately.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

Hi, I had one of those TERRIBLE P3C2000 boards...my system went for the craps, I traded it for the P3V4X...once I downloaded the drivers, my system has NEVER crashed since.
dont be afraid....get rid of the old board, you'll not regret it.
