A good cheap mobo for an i5 2400?

Hello fellow gamers. Having always played on console I recently decided to try learning how to build a PC. I thought the best way to start was upgrading my current PC. I heard that the i5 processors were good so I decided to build around my i5 2400 that was already in the PC. I do know that my current motherboard is an old lga 1155 but I don't know who manufactured it. So I wanted to know what other motherboards I can use to with my processor that are more fit for gaming. So far, my current budget it between $80-$100. The pre-built PC I have also didn't come with a GPU so if you guys have any tips on a decent and cheap one please feel free to add some suggestions. Given that I'm a beginner I have no idea what's compatible with what so, thanks in advance for all your help.

Is your motherboard defective? If not, then buying a new motherboard is useless; other than marketing that sometimes add "Gaming" to a motherboard description, no motherboard that supports your i5-2400 will make it faster in games.

No information about your pre-built PC.

I would recommend getting a bare PC case with multiple fans.

I would skip the OEM motherboard models such as Dell, HP.
