A good(not best!) graphics card for my intel g41 express

Hi,

with my current configuration the only games i can play are nfsu1,nfsu2,mw1...etc

and i want to do some more gaming, games like grid, shift(not the kinda games that require full-blown configurations)

here are the details of my current configuration:
Motherboard : Intel G41 Express(DG41RQ)
CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz (a 32 bit one)
RAM : 2GB DDR2
PSU : Mercury ATX SMPS 450w, 20-24pin (no clue what that means)

I did some research and found out that a Radeon HD 6670 would do the job(with my current psu and price range below 95$ or 5500Rs)

1. Sapphire AMD/ATI HD6670 1GB DDR3
2.XFX HD 6670 800MHz 2GB DDR3

both at same price and just below my price range (buying online)
so, what do you guys think?
will this be enough? will i face any problems with my current configuration + this Graphics card?

I dont really wanna buy a state of the art graphics cards with mind numbing prices(as a matter of fact, would even be glad if i could get a not so good graphic card for below 75$ or 4500Rs. but after some searching i realized it is not possible to get a good enough card for that price)

For the same amount of money, you can get an AMD HD 7770 (R7 250 under the new designation) which would be a step up.

wow!!, thanks for pointing this one. even the price on the online store is less than 6670's.

it shows the min psu is 450w, mine is exactly 450w. do they go well?
if so, i feel like going with this one.

one more thing, there is a ddr5 1gb and ddr3 2gb in 7770. which one should i take?

but, whats gonna happen if i did put a compatible graphics card(say 7770)?
i mean, i would like to know if there would be any problems or something (or) will these graphic cards dont perform well enough on my current config(i.e the money i put will not worth it).

i am not a pro in this area, but i appreciate the concern.

The 7770 is certainly the best you could get (the 750 and 750ti nvdias being much too expensive)! It features quite low power requirements (80W). You do need a 6 pin supply for that card! And I would downclock it slightly using the provided software (makes it more silent as well) if I were you because I have NO confidence in that PSU of yours...

And NEVER take the DDR3 models!!!! NEVER!!! NEVER!!!! You would not need 2GB anyway, especially if you are playing on a single monitor.

2. yeah, my psu says its a 20-24 pin, did some searching and found out i can use a molex to 6-pin adapter
what say you?
As for downclocking, 450w is still low for 7770?
3. used 5670 idea sound great, but im gonna try my luck with this 7770 if there wont be any probs

With your budget being as tight as it is, I think yours is the best idea. Normally using molex to 6-pin adapters isn't the greatest idea, but unless you're ready to spring for a new PSU, it's the only way for you to go--that or following Smallfilou's recommendations and get a used 5670.

I'd say go for it. At least you will max out your existing hardware. And if one day you want to move to say, a broadwell i5, you could keep that 7770 to start with...

okay, i made up my mind, im gonna buy the sapphire r7 250 1gb ddr5.(also a 1gb ddr2 to back my 2gb ddr2 pc ram)
also, from what i searched - the r7 250 doesnt have&need an external power connector!!.

if you want a real upgrade go for min r9 270 at least , if not win some more money and wait

somenoob, there is a reason why that R7 has no power connector: its pixel rate is twice lower than that of the 7770, so power usage is indeed lower...

so thats why i suggest to d ont waste the money on a toys gpu , when he can sell his old rig and have a decent rig instead ; if he d ont have the money to do it ...just win more money before build a new rig

I still do not really understand your point, badboy.
1. He never asked for a "full blown configuration"
2. That motherboard, even if it is old, can can be upgraded to a 3GHz quadcore Q9650
3. You are the only person I have seen rating the 7770 as a "toy GPU" (able to play most games at high/max settings on FHD, and on Toms recommanded list since it exists...
