Question A good system for Rendering?

My current system :
Mainboard : Hewlett-Packard 304 Ah
CPU : Intel COre i5 650 3.20 Ghz
Graphics : AMD Radeon HD 5450
Ram : 8 Gb DDR3
I need to upgrade my system inorder to use the latest version of 3dsmax and also for rendering.
What do you suggest?
Should I buy a new system or is it possible to upgrade CPU and Graphic's card only?

Technically you could upgrade the CPU and GPU, but (1) there's the possibility of a prebuilt PC having a locked BIOS, (2) getting the components could be difficult as they're old, and (3) performance might not be worthwhile.

My opinion is a new system is the better way to go.
