A good time to buy?

I was reading this article and what I got from it is that memory prices are going to go up. So, would now then be a good time to buy more RAM? On a side note, will I be able to have a dual channel 667 kit and a dual channel 800 kit working happily together.

So, I'm assuming a 1gb kit and 2gb kit would work happily together then? Also, would be at all possible to flash my 667 memory to 800 speeds and run my c2d @ 1-1 ratio? Or would that be a question for the overclocking area. Thanks for your response

No, you can not "flash" your DDR2 667
You can bump your FSB to 400 and run your memory at 1:1 that would OC your e6300 to 2.8 GHz and OC your DDR2 667 to 800. You might have to loosen the timings to 5:5:5:15 and give a slight voltage increase.

What Motherboard do you have?

A gigabyte DS3-Pro Rev1 (I knew I forgot something in my sig :D ) I say "flash" because I read about this program which allows you to "flash" the default settings on the RAM.

Totally off topic, but your sig is hilarious Ghost! LMAO

You may want to just chuck your 667's and get the 800's since you can get a 2gb kit for around 120 bucks. Some other thread cited a G-skill d9 2gb set for 115.00 at newegg. What was your intended budget for this upgrade?

I wouldn't use any program to flash your memory, or use one to OC.
You are asking for trouble if you do.
Do all your changes in bios, the DS3 will OC well.
eric54 is right you are better off dumping the 667 and going with 800.
You'll need better than stock cooling to OC.

I don't intend on oc'ing straight away (I need a better cooler, in Australia the stock intel one struggles at 2333 mhz with 1.325 vcore 70+ degrees TAT 8O ) Anyway, at stock (un oced) speeds, would the 3gb provide any advantage at all. Otherwise I will be selling the 1gb of ram (damn stuff cost me $175 AUD, and that was a good price). In Australia things seem to cost more :( . I don't have a specific budget, but under or around $180 would be great :D . I'm looking for more headroom to oc in the future.
The places i'm looking at are this mob and this mob. From the second store this stuff seems to be a good price.
Thanks for all the advice so far.
Oh yeah, the 667 is g-skill with 4-4-4-12 timings, so its not entirely bad.

Thanks for pointing that out. Websites 2 and 3 use frames and I can't seem to select the right frame  . Anyway, link 1 is a store which updates their prices daily (don't have a 'normal' price list). The stuff I was looking at was this or this . Remember that these prices are aud.
Thanks again. (The links should work this time)
