A gtx 760 question

O.k. so I am wondering if the gtx 760 is still a nice gpu and if it would last a little while for games coming out or should i try to say f it and buy a gtx 970. I would prefer not to spend crazy amounts of money but here is my set up so far

amd 8320
gigabyte amd 970 motherboard
600 watt evga psu
16 gb ram
and i use a 22 inch 1080p t.v. as a monitor


Also I am wondering is lap top and desktop ram the same if there the same size? like 16gb in laptop is the same as 16gb in desktop?

if you can afford a GTX 970, the upgrade is very worthwhile since you'll be able to use it for much longer than a GTX 760 at this point.

Laptop ram is smaller (less pins), usually called SODIMMs, and they won't fit in a desktop motherboard. They're also more expensive so there's no point in you getting it if you hvae a desktop

Upgrading to 970 isn't worth it in my opinion. You still have a high end card that runs things high-ultra. You are fine.

You can easily wait till the 380X comes out in a couple months, and that will be A LOT stronger than the 970.

Well my 760 does just fine in all games out right now but who knows how it will fare in the future. If i were you i would save up for the 970 more performance per dollar than the 760. And no laptop and desktop ram are not the same laptop ram is shorter and taller.

Yeah I know there not the same size i wa sjsut wondering because my cousin just bought a laptop and he has 16gb of ram and my desktop has 16gb so iw as wodnering if that was pretty much us havng the same ram or if mine was faster lol

gtx 760 and r9 270 are right on the edges of playing newer demanding games at 1080p

though there is exceptions but they are lowest cards i would recommend and as said go for the gtx 970 if you can afford it

The desktop might have slightly faster ram depending on what ram you have. Ram speed matters very little in terms of gaming performance so i wouldn't worry about that.

"Right on the edges of playing"? What does that even mean? It will be many many years before a 760 just cant play a modern game it may not max them out but it sure can play them with no problem at all.

Ahhh ok thank you thats what I was wondering. I always thought ram mattered in gaming?

I just wan tto be as future proof as I can without it being to costly I dont mind spending 3 or 350 as long as it isnt going to only last me 2015 lol

I think your confused with a different card. I can max far cry 3 1080p with 2x msaa 60fps. I play bf4 at high 1080p with 2x msaa 60fps or above. Batman archam city maxed 1080p 2x msaa 60fps+. Bioshock infinite maxed 1080p 60fps+. I could go on what you are saying is totally wrong.

The 750 ti does very well if bf4 for what it is and the price. Im not getting "butthurt" im just pointing out what you are saying is wrong the 760 does not struggle at 1080p i can not think of a single game where you would be forced to play at low-medium settings to keep the frame rate above 60 on a 760. So please post accurate information or dont post anything at all.

Im not saying the 760 cant max out every game its an entry level card, but it most certainly doesn't struggle to play any game at 1080p at pretty close to max settings.

Well i dont play assassins creed so i wouldn't know i here ac4 and unity are unoptimized terrible pc ports. All im saying is that i was very surprised when my 200 dollar 760 was able to max out far cry 3 and run it above 60 at all times would i prefer a 970 sure but for 200 dollars the 760 performs admirably.

What is that chart even supposed to represent? I am not here trying to argue that a 760 is better than a 970 i recommended that op get a 970. I was simply calling you out for saying that "gtx 760 and r9 270 are right on the edges of playing newer demanding games at 1080p" and "at 1080p you get crappy frame time with low-medium settings " which is just wrong.
