a home/personal server for gaming + storage ?

can anyone help me to put a server together.

what i am expecting from it:

-Use it kind off like a NAS for file storage
-I can access it from anywhere i have internet (public or private computers) so itll have to have some type of password protection.
-Hosting a big modded Minecraft server or other lightweight games (For max. 5 people ).

I have already an Samsung Evo 250GB and some older hard drives laying around . My budget is around (€300-€350).

I have a dedicated gaming pc so i would not using it for gaming and hosting at the same time.
I also Found a second handed Dell poweredge R610 with Xeon L5640 and 24gb ram and alot of hard drives for 250 euro's.

With that type of server, you could pick up some el cheapo gpus and run a couple of VMs using unraid (more servers)
