A little help on if this will work or not..

My Gpu is an 8800 GeForce gtx > http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2006/11/08/nvidia_geforce_8800_gtx_g80/1

My psu has an 8 pin cable and I want to split it into two 6 pins. Will I be seeing any power loss to the gpu if I go that route?

Huh, don't get it actually, according to your psu link it should have two 6 pins.
