I am taking a class and I have to write a research paper on video game
violence and the effects on the human mind. Because of the vast nature
of the topic I have chosen to focus on the newest and greatest FPS I
would appreciate it if you could take some time to complete my
questionnaire. I am a believer that humans make their own choices,
the research I am performing is just trying to prove this. Again, i'm
sorry if the nature of this message offends anyone in the group and I
appreciate your time.

Fighting_Force

1. What is your favorite thing about Doom 3?

2. Do you notice your attitude changing immediately after playing
the game?

3. Would you let your kid play this game?

4. If desired, please explain your answer for the question above.

FPS games ideally have an exploratory element about them. Doom3 does have
this immersion.

No

Not until they are about 10 or have demonstrated an ability to handle
violent shows and movies without acting out.

I want them to be ready, but I'd rather have me be the gatekeeper, than one
of their friends. I will have an oppurtunity to observe their consumption,
and comment if necessary.

I think you need to learn a bit more about doing proper research kid.

For starters, when conducting a survey don't state you're trying to
prove one point or another before you even ask a question.
At this rate you'll end up doing polls for national presidential elections.

tough one....I'd say the environment in which the story takes place.
It's SO realistic that you feel like you're really there on Mars.

Yes..weird dreams, slight paranoia, etc. DOOM3 is the greatest video
game experience ever, but it has some truly disturbing images. I'm 41
years old and it's been a LONG time since anything's spooked me, but
DOOM 3 surely did. It rulz.

> 3. Would you let your kid play this game?
NO!NO!NO!NO! I let my 8 year old watch me play for a while and he was
truly frightened. Now he keeps the door to the computer room closed at
all times and he doesn't like going in there. Wish I would've seen that
coming, I never would've let him see DOOM 3

Nah, I usually stoo fer a bit, specially if there is a difficult battle I
can't get through - I will just sit fer a while and usually clean my guns or
sharpen my knives, or go through my List, anythin that the average gamer
would do when he is ticked off. Helps me relax, preparin fer the next phase
y'know.

I hadn't thought of doin that, but it would be good training, what do they
call it? de-sensitising, yeah that's it. Thanks fer the idea!
I'll make a note to exclude you from my List.

Some has to train the young'uns to clean up this Country when God calls, and
iD is doing a bang-up job of providing the tools.
