A lot of hard drive activity

I recently started having my hard drive sound like its reading and writing files constantly even when i'm idling. My rig is only a year old and it never used to do this, maybe on startup it would have a brief minimal amount but now it doesn't stop. I didn't think much of it until my computer ended up freezing two different times when I was playing GTA online. All of my drivers and software are updated. I ran windows defender to make sure nothing came up so I don't think that a virus can be it with how careful I am. I read on forums somewhere to look at the resource monitor and it looks like somethings not right, any pointers would be greatly appreciated

I did that and updated the original post so you can see it. I'm not sure what MsMpEng.exe is and it looks to me like a ton of activity going on with that and system for only having open chrome and a few small programs.

When this happened to me on my PC I used Malwarebytes to eliminate the threat. You can download it for free here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

It is very likely you have malware or a trojan horse type virus on your computer causing all the mischief. Use Malwarebytes or some other really good malware/virus checking program to detect and eliminate it.
