I am looking for the actual name if there even is a specific name for such device. If not I'd love to find monitors that pretty much fold up and such for easy transportation means. Basically a monitor alone that folders like a laptop would. Looking to do this, as I will become far more mobile.

Maybe even a touch screen one? (I'd prefer something that plugs into it's own outlet as well, rather then consuming usb power or whatever other means would be likely for mobility. (Having a built in battery etc, etc.)

Here's a portable 15.6" monitor you can consider; 1366x768 resolution. The base also acts as a cover for the monitor. Uses HDMI cable. $250.

Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421 14" Widescreen LED Monitor; 1366x768 for $165. Connects via the USB 3.0 port and no battery. Not suitable for playing games since USB is too slow for that.

I did google it, finding that it did exist. I came here to find out if there was a popularity for a specific model or brand... Thanks for the useless feed back though!

It wouldn't be a normal monitor, I was considering something that used a laptop style screen but as a standalone monitor. A mobile or at least more compact and mobile designed monitor.

I would just look for a small computer flat screen monitor. I've seen some as small as 12 inches. Since you're going to be plugging it into the wall for power anyways, it's not that much different from a regular flat screen. I've yet to see one that was marketed as "ultra-portable" or anything, but it's quite possible to just buy a small display and carry it around with your laptop. Some even have a removable base so make it a little more easy to carry.

There is the announced, but not yet available 13.3" ThinkVision LT1423p touchscreen portable monitor. It has a resolution of 1600x900 and it is a bit expensive. Initially expected to be priced at $449 back in January 2013, the estimate price has dropped to $349 in April. It is wireless and the battery is estimated to last 4 hours (according to Lenovo). No release date yet.

Thank you for the selection. The one to be released sounds nice. It's good to know who at least has interest in making these devices. I'd hope in the near future with the way mobility is becoming #1 that this type of technology widens.
