Hello, here is what I'll be getting

I5 9600k or i7 8700 cant decide
Gigabite Z390 x gaming mobo
2x8 ram
Win10
500gb ssd
2tb hd
750w

I was thinking 1440 144 hz I play alot of mmo's amd some first person shooters, do these games accommodate that kind of resolution, or could this build handle 4k 60hz.

go for 27" QHD (1440p) 144Hz.
I would recommend DELL S2719DGF, good price-performance, with Display port cable can achieve 155Hz, 1ms and the best part? Unofficially supports G-sync

When people say 1440, which are they talking about the 3440 or 2560?

You see 3440 @ 21:9 as more of a minor special case reference, and it's usually specified in a way that links it to the 21:9 aspect ratio.

16:9 is standard aspect ratio. 3440x1440 is 21:9 and thus considered as "wide-screen"

My point was that, if you see "1440", it's usually in relation to a 16:9 implementation.

If the widescreen implementation is being discussed, and 1440 is being used as a shorthand reference, "1440" is, as a matter of common practice, paired with "21:9", "3440", or "widescreen" to dispel any possible confusion....because 2560x1440 is standard.
