Hello,

This is a PC config that I'm currently using:

Ryzen 5 3600
asus gtx 1660 super oc dual
msi b550m mortar wifi micro atx
crucial P1 nvme 1000gb
HyperX 16GB Fury RGB DDR4 3600MH 1x single stick
seasonic gc 650 80 plus gold
aerocool cylon mini white
shadow wings 2 cooler

The motherboard is unfortunately faulty ( the RAM slots) and that's why I was forced to use the single stick RAM since the day one. I'm afraid that the motherboard will completely die very soon and now I need to look for a new one. So far I think that the CPU and GPU are ok for my lite gaming usage. I have two questions and I'm looking forward to your suggestions.
1. Which micro atx motherboard would you recommend ? Since I'm planning to stay with this Ryzen 3600 in the near future, I would just go for a better GPU when the time comes.
2. Would it be smart to go for another RAM HyperX 16GB Fury RGB DDR4 3600MH to pair it and get 32GB on the new motherboard, is it a good upgrade for the performance ?

Thank you 😉

You might get away with adding 16 RAM to existing 16 for 32 total.

Or not. Or yes, but headaches.

But for "light gaming"?? I'm not sure what level of improvement you are expecting moving from 16 to 32 anyway.

Of course, if budget is of little concern, fire away. Surest way to minimize headaches is to buy 32 new in a kit of 2 x 16 for the new board.

So, first off about RAM. Ryzen tends to be far more picky about matched sets. If you don't have the original matching stick of what you have, purchase new.

On the motherboard aspect:
IF you are not planning on going over a Ryzen 5, I would make main priorities (in the form you are looking for) to be features and looks. If you are planning to possibly upgrade into the Ryzen 7 or 9 realm you will want to consider power delivery (VRM) quality.

What is the difference between buying another module of the same memory of 16GB and pairing it with the existing one and buying 2x16GB , sounds the same? Sorry for my ignorance.

I thought that 2 single modules of the same RAM paired together would behave like a pack of 2x16 , or I'm completely wrong?

So is there any recommendation regarding the motherboard, what should I look for to have a decent system in the upcoming years? I don't plan on gaming 4k , ultra etc I'm completely fine with medium settings and that's why I would stick with this 3600, guess the GPU is much more important when the time comes
