Hi! I have bought a new PC by pieces. I don't know so much about computers, for this i had contracted a friend for make it. I took:
-amd fx 8-core black edicion
-nox nx 100 with power suply nx550
-asrock 970 extreme4
-asus radeon hd 7870
when we conect the motherboard to the PSU it works but when we conect the graphics card too it doesn`t work. Anybody can explain me why?

The brand of power supply that you have may not be very good and may not be putting out the required amps for that card. You can either look at the power supply and post the amps that it has or list the model number so we can look it up.
The 7870 requires a 500w power supply as a minimum and your saying that you have a 550w so either it doesn't have enough amps or there is something else preventing the card from working. Did you connect the two 6 pin power connectors to the card?

Not to knowledgeable about future proofing are ya?

700w Will ensure a good few years of a proofed PSU. And if it's a high end like Corsair AX/AXi (If you have the coin) it will do for at least 7 years ensuring that he/she won't need to keep buying PSU's. I personally would recommend a 850watt as it seems to ensure at least 8 years until a replacement is need or a fault occurs but that shouldn't happen unless you pick a low tier PSU like general office PC PSU's.
