If you have gotten dumped by E&B or got fed up with Jumpgate, you
might want to check out this new game.

interesting fact about the game:
* not a point and click like eveonline, tottaly twitch based/real time
PvP.

I was a former beta tester for vendetta and I would like to say why I
would choose vendetta online over jumpgate.

* 7680 sectors which is 60x larger than Jumpgate.
* pvp is more challanging than jumpgate. where engine and weapons
consumes up the same energy plus you can't move while after burn.
* better graphics, especially when you take an object and put it into
the sun, and it blurs. you can see the reflection when looking at an
ice roid.
* OS friendly.. don't forget that! vendetta is availible for all 3
platforms. jumpgate is only availible for windows.
* better control system than jumpgate. where strafing your ship left
and right comes to mind.
* the ability to control multi-manned ships. no more flying those
miserable star fighters.
* cargo drops when ship is destroyed.. adds more aspect to the game.
* 2 flight modes(arcade, newton) to toggle to which make the game have
an easier learning curve. no more trying to stop your ship slowly and
point at the docking port. simply fly right into the docking bay using
the arcade flight mode!

I understand that vendetta is still under development and not ready
for public beta yet, but were all spreading the word so just you know
that it will blow Jumpgate away in the future. Some people call it
"The Next Jumpgate".

ooh, I have tottaly forgot that another advantages that vendetta has
is that we can play and interact with all of the players all over the
world(including europe) on the single server. Unlike jumpgate has been
splitted into 2 servers with one for north american only and other one
for europe only which was kind of lame.

i have been waiting for all these ages to interact with euros in a
twitched based space trading type game.

I tottaly disagree with vendetta being better than Jumpgate etc..

Yeah Vendetta might be ok for another Space trading type game with
twitch based combat. And the graphics are a little better than
Jumpgate as well.

However, I cannot stand vendettas flight engine and model of sort.
Vendettas flight engine/distance/speed is based more on a freespace
style type than Jumpgates tottaly unique flight engine with newtonian
phsyics.

The faster the ships go with the flight engine, the more you feel that
you are actually gliding through space than just doing some hardcore
junkie/quake like battles using the freespace flight method.

Don't forget that having the ability to toggele 2 different flight
models in the game is pretty much unrealistic.

Eventhough vendetta has 7680 sectors in the entire universe, the
travel method in vendetta is tottaly different where you have to be
3000m away from all the largest objects to make a jump to another
sector.. And this jump you can go almost any sector in a single system
and not one or two squares. But hopefully this will change soon.
Compared to Jumpgates traveling method, you use gates to get from one
place to another and they are between 10,000 to 75,000 away between
gates. Thats because ships in jumpgate go between 250 to 600 in speed.

Yes, vendetta is one of the newest space flight mmorpgs coming out
this year and this is the reason why every one is so hyped about it.

p.s. Anyone reading this thread should add Vendetta as another one of
those "elite" type games.

See ya.

www.eve-online.com ;-)

A game made alive by its player and driven by the players.

Over 150+ skills to train.
Tons of ships, equipment to use.
Be anything you want to be, builder, explorer, miner, pirate, bounty hunter,
agent runner, researcher, jack of all trades ;-)

Been playing EVE for over a year now, and I wouldnt change it for any other
new wannabe hype coming along (hehe).

As what I said, EVE-Online is just another everquest set in the space.
The reason why everyone is calling it the "New Elite" is because of
the eye candy graphics..

It might be a nice space role playing type game. I cannot classify it
as a "space simulator" just because it's combat system is based on a
random number generator.

I played the old NetDiaspora and it didn't have any type of skill to
kill anything and yet(The Engage Button) I enjoyed it. I used to like
point and click games, I was a high level as a solo, until I end up
getting pked by a group of high level player killers over and over
again. At this point, I stopped playing those type of games. The only
way to succeed in point and click games is to get friends which I have
a lot of trouble with.

Anyways, I like mmorpgs that are based on player skills and not just
"skill points" better than just point and click ones.

This is all just me.

Diaspora was great fun! I was totally hooked on it. Discovered it a month
or so after it started and stayed with it till it "crashed" permanently. It
was tough to go solo, but could be done (especially in the early days when
you could have five or six versions of the game running simultaneouly and
control a whole fleet of freighters or warships, trade money back and forth,
etc). The problem was they kept "improving" and "englarging" the game w/o
dealing with the rampant hacking of its code.

I am so sick and tired of eve online being mentoined every time
someone displayed a new space mmorpg or someone seeking a space
mmorpg. and everyone calling another person troll just because he
doesn't like the game in general and telling everyone its good to just
get more people in to the game.

It's just rude to just display an overrated game and someone calling
another person troll every time there is a new space game out there.

Like final fantasy, you don't like it, people flame you.

Would you prefer we go back to the days when every other post was a
Battlecruiser flame?

Not liking a game is fine.
Claiming to dislike a game, whilst expressing clear and blatant
ignorance of the facts regarding that game, is something else. It is
either moronic, or trollish.

Welcome to usenet. Now get over yourself.
