can my S-video out on my Radoen 8500 output both NTFC and PAL signal? i want to connect a NTFC LCD to the S_video out and basically use it as a 2nd display, but i live in australia, i think we use PAL here. will it still work, even though the LCD is NTFC?

That's NTSC, and I would say no it will likely not work, as the presets will be set or the North American setup, and run at diff. res. You will need to get an adapter (an appliance type not a dongle), which isn't TOO expensive, but may be hard to find in Aus., as the typical adapter bought would likely be the other way around. Check with your LCD mfr. as they would likely be able to tell you if it is NTSC only or can switch, some/few have built in switching (allows for more sales without retooling for Europe vs America (or in your case Oz). However if you do need an adapter expect the image to be very degraded, especially since you will take a converted image and then put it on an LCD. Oye!

Anywhoo here's a link to my favorite gadget/converter co.
It's in the UK, they advertise in STUFF mag. alot.

I tried your link, it took me to a resistor descripton.

Compsite video usually refers to the way the signal is split and sent to your monitor (tv,whatever) through a single stream, however in this case it means connector I think. An SVHS cable divids it in 2 and a component divides it into 3 (well really 2+1).
So in this case they use the term composite video signal, however I think that they really mean any video signal that is carried by a composite cable (RCA jack / aka phono plug). In any case it's bad writing on their part, think of the yellow connector on your VCR, that's a composite connector as well as carrying a composite video signal on it.
Heck you can use BNC cat5 cable to run a composite signal, or any kind of signal.
It ain't just for 10Base-t anymore folks!
