Hello,

Recently I purchased a new TCL Roku TV (P62 series)and my experience with it so far has been just fine. iPlayer works flawlessly and my PS5 connected over HDMI works brilliantly. However, recently I've run into some issues attempting to set up AV on it.

It requires a 3.5mm AV adapter - I purchased one of these before, and it didn't work - upon closer inspection, that cable was faulty, so I returned it and since then I've been using this one to connect it to my Gamecube's RCA/composite cable. I've had a couple of issues relating to the composite colors being mixed up, etc. which are detailed on the reviews of said item - but I resolved these - I came here to ask for help about one particular issue that I have not found any advice about on the reviews page nor through searches on the internet.

When plugged in to the Roku TV through AV, the screen totally freaks out. We're getting loud buzzing noises and a flicker of black and white with specks of colours rising up and down the screen - and only very faint pieces of the intended picture are visible. I wondered at first if this was a ground loop, which I don't know too much about, but both the TV and the Gamecube are on the same power strip and moving them off of it didn't fix the issue, so I'm unsure about that. I've also tried reproducing the same setup, with a different AV cable and my PS1 - and the same issue persists, so the Gamecube and RCA/AV cable themselves are not the problem. I'm at a total loss at this point for what options remain to eliminate. Twisting and turning the 3.5mm jack in the TV does not affect the picture. The grounding pins in the TV and the cable are in the same position as far as I'm aware. Before I'm forced to return the cable and try another - does anybody have any ideas for other things to try that may resolve the issue? I'm at my wits end here and pulling my hair out.

Edit: For clarity, here is an uploaded video of the screen.

Get a little AV to HDMI box from ebay or your local electronic shop.
Something like this.

The picture you get is due to missing sync which could be from your TV or the cable.
Much info on this:

My guess is your TV is made for RGB (4 wires) while the gamecube/ps1 only output RCA (3wires) so the sync is missing.
