A couple nights ago we had a bad storm and lightening struck by my house while I was in bed. Come morning some electronics were toasted. Only thing connected to a surge protector was my gaming area, my monitor, router, console were all fine but my PC wasnt. I paperclip tested my PSU and the fan spins up for a second then stops. If everything else connected to the surge protector survived then why did my PC take a hit? And what other parts should I be concerned about?

No way to know for sure until you put another PSU in the system.

Any component inside the PC or anything plugged into the PC (keyboard, phone, etc) could be damaged, however, the likely hood of everything being toasted is low.

Unfortunately, surge protectors don't always protect as you would expect. I think this has something due to the protection rating, but I am FAR, FAR too underqualified to explain this.
