If you get a new AM5 motherboard and go into the BIOS to change anything at all, it may cause the system to be unstable with laggy mouse movement, stuck keyboard, flickering screen, BSODs and more. This is caused because when you hit save and exit in the BIOS, even if you do it without changing anything, the infinity fabric clock (if its in auto) changes for no reason to an invalid speed. To fix it you need to go to the overclock section of the BIOS, find the infinity fabric option and change it from auto to 1800 which is the default speed. So far i'm not aware of any BIOS update that addresses it so its either rare or few people have found out what's wrong to report it. I for one simply took out the battery to reset everything and decided to keep the BIOS on default to avoid the issue until i found out what was happening.

As i said its probably rare but i had it on 2 MSI boards and searching online i found a few threads in various forums talking about encountering it in Asrock boards and someone there mentioned that it was present in his Gigabyte board. In only one of the posts i found someone talking about the solution. I don't know if its widespread or not i'm just posting it in case someone does have such a problem and can't find a solution to it, because MSI support, when i contacted them about it thinking its a bad BIOS chip, seemed unaware of it existing despite it being present in both boards i got from them.

AMD cpu if you see something strange RMA IT!
Its not impossible but i don't see how its related to the "save and exit" in the BIOS. As i said, even if nothing is changed, the simple process of clicking on "save and exit" causes the infinity fabric clock to change and the system to become unstable. Though, strangers things have happened in the world of pc building.

The thing is though, that the CPU can get through a 1 hour AIDA 64 stress test (i could run it for more but i get bored watching youtube on my phone while it runs) without any issue.
