a problem with a emerson tv/dyd player

This is an Emerson flat screen tv/dvd player model ld195em8. As a computer monitor and a game monitor (like for an X Box)game system using one of the composite video/sound inputs the tv works 100%. But when I try to auto tune in the local tv broadcast stations. I only get the local Spanish station just down the street (there is 19 local tv stations in town). I can get all 19 local tv on my 15" hd flat screen tv in my workshop 100% clear on an indoor rabbit ears antenna. The Emerson (in tv mode) acts like there is a bad coax cable. I tried swapping out the antenna cable and I still only get 1 channel. This tv was given to me asis. It was in (for a long time) a dirty/dusty storage shed. I cleaned the hole inside of the tv with air in a can and the dvd player won't take in a disk let alone playing it. Now my background is in older tv's and stereo's with tubes in them, 2 way radio's, vcr's and computer repair. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the tuner won't work right?

i had an old tv that the main board tuner failed..when it did all i got was channel 3 or 4.
