Hi guys, I've been running an ATI Radeon 650 on an antec true power 650. Never had anomalies freezes or other issues while gaming.

However, I've always had to leave on my PC because when I shutdown and restart I get hell for the system to detect the video card again which usually involves me resetting the bios.

I sit other video cards in the slot and don't get issues.

I was wondering if the AMPS on my 12v rail is enough for this card. You can see all of the ratings here:

http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=705138&fid=5022032

The video card just has a high fan noise now and is never recognized. I've updated the bios, made sure that PCI slot is primary... everything, it is never even detected as being slotted in the MB.

I am just asking this as a last resort, if my power supply was not good enough maybe it damaged the card over time? But how is that possible since I never had issues running high ends games for hours ( no artifacts no tearing no freezes nothing )

If the power supply is good enough then the card is bad, I guess, but I am wondering, just to go bad like that without showing any signs of going bad? It's 3 years old.

The system is windows 7 64 bit, MSI motherboard B75MA-P45, core i3, 12 megs of ram.

According to the specs listed above, where you can see a picture of the details of the amps and rails and wattage, it has 4 12v rolls (I guess splitters) each rated between 22a and 27a but total 54a, does this matter when connecting my card with the 6 pin connector? Is that connector only capable of giving 22a? And is that then enough? Or can it draw more amps through that single connector up to the max amps which I believe it says is 54.

THanks in advance

Hi sorry it is an HD 6850. I've seen some people saying that less than 40amps isn't ideal, so I was wondering the amp on any one rail being less than 40 is a problem.

That card uses about 120W, which is about 10amps. You have plenty.

The 40amps means a total of 480 watts if it's all on 12V rails, which it never is.

I don't know what the rest of your system is, but for non-overclocked CPU and the rest of the system, even AMD CPUS don't use more than about 12amps, so you have plenty of amps and voltage.

Do you have any way to test the output of you power supply just to convince you?

You mean a volt meter? I have a psu tester, which says the power supply is good. Everything runs fine for years. Just not that card hehehe :)

Motherboard is B75MA-p45 MSI

I replaced it with something probably of lesser spec. Where I live video cards are expensive and I had bought the radeon in the USA. Which is why I am disappointed it died. I got an ATI 260x OC 2gig ram DDR5 something like that. THanks. :)
