Hi guys, I've currently got these specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: ASUS Strix GTX970
RAM: 16GB
PSU: Corsair CP-9020097-UK VS550

I want to upgrade my MOBO to a ASRock Z97M Pro4 and my CPU to a Intel Core i5 4690K.

My only question is will my current power supply be enough to for the upgrade that I'm wanting?

Solution
Yes 550 watts is more than enough. Your new build is only around 300 watts which puts you at about 55% used when the PC is loaded up on CPU and GPU usage. I would not be concerned in the slightest. You should consider a 6600k as its virtually the same cost as the 4690K and it brings a slight performance boost along with motherboards that have newer features.

I was wondering about the i5 6600k, would it perform noticeably different in gaming? If so then I might as well go for that as it's pretty much the same price.

It likely wont perform noticeably better unless you run a benchmark. However if you look at motherboard features you will see things like M.2, U.2, USB 3.1, etc on the Skylake 1151 motherboards so you get more features and future proofing say for example adding a Intel Optane SSD drive next year. Just my two cents is go with Skylake as the cost difference is minimal.
