A question about projectiles missing

When you throw, say, daggers at a monster, and they miss, they always
land on the square that the monster occupies. Shouldn't they carry on
beyond that square if they miss? What is supposed to be stopping them?

Missing doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't hit, just that it doesn't
hit for damage. That's why heavy armor makes you harder to 'hit'; you're
not smaller or quicker on your feet, you're just harder to damage.

It would make sense for maybe SOME of the projectiles to continue on,
but certainly not all.
