im using 2 of these WD My Passport to backup my data from my computer
I didn't use the software that came with the drive and I also reformat it the drives as ntfs before using them
but i heard that WD my passport automatically encrypt data as it is written to disk and decrypt the data as it is read back to the computer
so my Question is :lets say i bought a new computer and i connect the WD my passport drives to it so i can restore my data
will WD My Passport still decrypt the data and restore them to my new computer or it will only decrypt the data if I plug it to the original computer where I made the backup ?

Solution
The data is encrypted in and via the enclosure.
The only issue would be if you took the drive out of the actual enclosure. That couldn't be read.

Connecting the enclosure to a different PC or laptop is no problem.
