A question from a man about to install Win7 on his new SSD

Hi all, I recently purchased the PNY XLR8 http://www.amazon.com/PNY-6Gbps-2-5-Inch-Solid-SSD9SC120GMDF-RB/dp/B007WT9SU0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399337440&sr=8-1&keywords=pny+ssd , because it was on a great sale. I have been doing research and came to the conclusion: Unplug the HDD with the SSD plugged in and let Win7 install. The only question I have: When I unplug the HDD, will the computer still boot without the drivers installed on the HDD (I know, probably a noob question) it's better to be safe than sorry. What is the difference between an empty HD and an empty SSD ? The divers are on the DVD which the system boots from during the install.

If your HD has drivers on it, you will need to format it and get rid of them as they are likely left over from an older system. If not, and it is for this susytem, they are worth keeping for an alternate boot if SSD fails.

Have only the SSD connected. It will boot and install just fine.

Gee - you need to google what you are going to do first. Then you will understand.

You won't start the pc into Windows, just into bios. Then you set the dvd drive as the boot drive and put the Windows disk into it. You shutdown your pc and remove the hard drive and put the ssd in. You then start the pc and it'll go straight to the DVD drive and start Windows from the disk. You then follow instructions till the installation is complete. The you shut down the pc and restart it into bios again and make the ssd the primary boot drive. You can then add your hdd once its prepared. Google it. Microsoft will tell you.

Thank you, I literally only did like five minutes of research before realizing I could just ask people on a forum for the answer. This is probably the most straightforward post I've read, and I thank you sir. 😀
