Question A real speed difference...

I would like some opinions if yall dont mind.

is there a major speed difference between nvme gen 3 and 4? My mobo is capable of gen 4 so i am curious if i should buy me one. thx

I will be using it for gaming. I do understand that it will probably only help with load times....not actually in game.

For gaming there is no perceivable difference between them.

Unless you plan on moving large quantities of large files between NVME drives (RAW Photography files for example), you likely wont see any benefit.

this is why I am wondering if manufacturers consider making simple PCIE3 TLC drives.
If direct TLC write can hit 1.5Gbps, there must be some demand for PCIE3 SSDs with much simpler data handling. I don't like the fact that my precious data is copied to SLC cache, then moved again to the TLC flash, while the processor juggles multiple tasks. 176 layer TLC NAND is fast enough so they can make decent PCIE 3 drive with much simpler data handling algorithm (like Samsung 970 PRO). There is not practical speed difference anyway for most of the users.
