A second 980 or an additional 980Ti

So, off the bat, I'm not a gamer, but using GTX Nvidia card CUDA cores gets me lovely fast render times in GPU renderer Octane.

Currently I have a 750W PSU, powering a 980 and a 750Ti.

I'm torn between getting another 980 which my current PSU should support, or stretching for a 980Ti and having to get a new PSU to account for the addtional power draw.

1 - Would my current 750W PSU support 2x980 & 750Ti?
2 - Would a 1000W PSU support 980Ti, 980 & 750Ti
3 - Should I sell my 980 and 750W PSU and get 980Ti & 1000W PSU?

I don't want to be throwing money at the issue, but in terms of future proofing, perhaps a more robust PSU is the way to go?

Anyone have any advice or experience of this type of setup?

Future proofing is short lived because new tech come out all the time.. One single card such as the 980ti will give you grand performance and less headaches then running 2 in sli they always say to get the best gpu you can afford at the time when doing a build.. Why are you running 2 different cards? tho... And yes if you got a 1000 watt good name brand PSU it would or should last you many years and help future proof.

Sell the GTX980 and GTX750Ti, keep your 750W PSU, buy a GTX980Ti.

Thanks for the reply dude. As I said, Im using them for the extra CUDA cores that come available with the addtional card, as they speed up my render times in 3D GPU rendering. I wont be using them in SLI at all. Another 980 doubles my performance in Octane, a 980ti has roughly 1 third extra cores, and 2 GB extra VRAM. So it will go over double the performance but at the cost of a TI and new PSU to power it.

I feel like I'm leaning towards the 980Ti though it might be because I'm a sucker for the latest shiny new everything. It will require I spend more than I would like to, but it offers the most benefit..

Sell the GTX980 and GTX750Ti, keep your 750W PSU, buy a GTX980Ti.

Doing this does get me a new card, which is great but the gain in CUDA cores is nominal;
4GB 980 + 2GB 750Ti = 2688 CUDA CORES
6GB 980TI = 2816 CUDA CORES

I ultimately wanted to boost my available CUDA cores to really push the GPU rendering speeds, so this whilst is an upgrade, i'm not sure this will be the substantial boost I'm looking to benefit from..

With only a GTX980Ti, you have another free slot for another GTX980Ti.
You need at least 850W for 2xGTX980Tis tho'

As I said its always best to buy the best GPU you can then later you can sli with another .
