a simple wattage question

my computer have a 300w power supply but i read on the 400 w peak watt

what does peak watt mean does it mean the my power supply can uses 400w or is it still 300w

It means i "can" run continuously at 300 watts but can, for a split second hit 400w. But I'm sure the power supply you're talking about is generic, do not try this, and the rating might be false.
