Hi, I just installed a Windows 10 home premium. However, I have been spending hours trying to set up my HP Office Jet 3830 printer on Windows 10 and I keep getting this error message whenever I try to print a document with any program:

A StartDocPrinter call was not issued.

I have tried modifying the registry and using cmd.exe and tried resetting the spooler service and installed and reinstalled the drivers repeatedly. I am totally at a loss. Any help please? I have tried everything. Is this a printer problem or windows problem or driver problem? What should I do????

Update. After 4 hours I gave up. I downgraded and installed factory fresh windows 7. Downloaded the drivers again. Now the printer works perfectly. Pretty absurd but that’s life. My advice I suppose is if upgrading windows causes problems then just downgrade back....

Thank you everyone for your help anyway I appreciate it. Good try :)

It is a new printer HP 3830 and the install CD itself expressly said compatible with Windows 10. It’s a shame since I now am forced to use Windows 7 since I really don’t want to buy a new printer. I guess I should be thankful at least it works with Win 7. I guess this can hopefully serve to prevent other people from going thru this crazy experience like me :)
