A strange combination of dual channel memory.need help.

My laptop has single 16gb ram.
I want duel channel as it increases fps.

Can i add another 8gb stick..so it will be duel channel and same clocks. Will it give me full dual channel performance.

Or do i have to get a 16gb stick as its prettt expensive.

That would depend entirely on your CPU, in particular the memory controller on it. If it has something like Intel Flex Memory Technology, then the first 16GB would run in dual-channel and the last 8GB would run in single-channel. If it drops entirely to single-channel mode when the sticks don't match, then performance will be exactly the same as it is now except you will have more memory.
