A little black square square broke off my AMD Radeon HD 5500, it still works, I get some artifacting when oc'ing memory over 840mhz never got to use before it broke off as it was given to me and he found it in his garage I think. I am just wondering what its for. Something to do with the DVI port maybe? something to do with memory? btw this happened a long time ago I am just getting a new monitor so I'm wonderin if I should not get a DVI monitor (Location of black square on video card) (Black square that broke off)

Hey there Spare Brains
That is a DIPP - a Dual Inline Pin Package Integrated Circuit.
I cannot say what it does but you told us what its not doing now that is gone.
you COULD try to replace it if you have any soldering skills.
I suggest a new card. a used card with that performance is fairly cheap

not an endorsement, shop around, caveat emptor, example only

I've never soldered before, but I have a soldering iron but I lost the thing that fell off. Its a crappy video card, I could find a better one for 30 bucks, but for now this one will be fine till I get a new one.
