A very weird question

I was just thinking. Say for example, I put in the gpu or cpu wrong somehow. Like for example, the gpu (r9 295x2, a massive card) doesnt go ALL the way into the pci slot. (it looks like it could still go further more in but i cant push it in anymore) Would it be possible for games to have less fps/more fps issues, crossfire issues or anything negative at all because of that?

The pc powers on fine with no problem. It never switches off and all components turn on as well.

The only thing thats weird for me which i never had on other computers, is that once i switch my computer off, the psu's fan (which is 1000w or 1200w cant remember) is still running for couple of seconds. I just thought that since it has so much wattage, it needs to run out before the fan stops running.

I dunno its just a thought i had since ive been having a lot of problems with games such as csgo, fps jumping from 150 to 300 all the time, which isnt normal because it should max out 400fps without a problem, recently layers of fear was showing i had 150 fps but the game was laggy as hell, or witcher 3 and other games not supporting crossfire properly. I dont know whether this is my fault or the shitty games developers are giving us as usual

Ok when mounting the GPUs, did you lock the lock downs on the PCIe bridges? Yes it is common for the PSU fan to run a couple seconds after shutdown. And 400fps is pointless, no matter what your resolution is. It is FPS that you will never see, even in 4K. It all depends on what Khz your monitor is. Say you have a 60khz monitor, a 60hz monitor refreshes the screen 60 times per second. Therefore, a 60hz monitor is only capable of outputting 60fps. It can still feel smoother to play at a higher framerate than your monitor can display however, because input lag with your mouse will be reduced. You might also start to see tearing though, which happens when your videocard is rendering frames faster than your monitor can display them.

yeah when i mount the gpu i can hear the *click*, or at least i remember i heard it. im gonna try again. Ill also show you a picture of how deep the gpu is in the slot, i dunno in my opinion it didnt go all the way in.

oh i know about fps and refresh rates, but im just saying.

my mate with the same cpu, but a 2gb vram gpu and he has more fps than i do (in csgo). he can play csgo on ultra, and he gets 300 fps or so, and it NEVER goes down. (i know ultra is pointless for this game but im just saying he can) where as i get massive fps drops to at least 150. so its definitely my hardware isnt it

Is your case too small for GPU, or any other obstructions? If your lock downs are locked then your GPU should be secure. Are your drivers up to date, included widows drivers, Direct X and net framework

Nah my case is massive, the biggest one on the european market. To put it simply, its a test bench haha.
there are no obstructions and the gpu has an infinite amount of space. The only thing that bothers me, is that the sata jacks may be blocking the gpu... http://imgur.com/n5k637T see on the right, its laying on the sata jacks and i dont know if thats the reason why the card MAY not be working the way it should be. But the gpu powers on without any issues and it works.

So here are the pics:

Tell me, is that normal? i removed the gpu and mounted it again and there was a clicking sound. The thing i dont get, is that you can easily move it left or right if i dont screw in those two green screws: http://imgur.com/NuT3O8q

And im pretty sure if id wanted, i could easily just unmount the gpu without unlicking the pci express http://imgur.com/oUmqE4c that circled thing :p sorry i dont know what its called. but anyway is that normal as well?

So like i said, thats the only thing that may be obstructing the gpu, but i cant push it down any further on both sides, so i presume it went all the way in?

So let me know what you think mate, and also my question still stands. Is it possible for the hardware component to not work the way it should, because its for example not mounted properly? even though it powers on without any problems and works fine?
Like in lot of games, the cpu utilization doesnt go beyond 30%. is that normal ?

Oh also, when i power my pc on, and it goes to the bios screen my keyboard wont switch on until the windows logo pops up. Its annoying because i obviously wont be able to access bios without the keyboard, and it happened both before and after i changed the bios batteries, and it works ONCE everytime i take any battery out and in. Let me know what you think. Could this also be associated with my other posts ?

P.S everything is up to date

If you think that that sata port is in the way, which it is an odd placement, try to move your GPU to your other PCIe X16 bridge. About your keyboard, go into you device manager and see if your pc is properly reading it and try to update device driver from there. You ca also try to plug your keyboard into another usb port also. Some older devices don't like usb 3.0 or 3.1

i moved it to all other usb pots and its the same. Its the steelseries apex keyboard so i got it with all software so its up to date.

So if the gpu is mounted, and it powers on without a problem and runs fine, then everything is ok? it wont affect performance?
