A Wooden Computer?

First off, let me get this straight. I may have made a mistake with the title. This is not a computer made of wood, It has a very real MSI motherboard, AMD processor,etc...

I've built this computer without a case( I can give a picture if you like) and instead of buying another case, I'm planning to make one out of plywood!

So, will plywood protect my computer like a metal case, and does it have any problems concerning static electricity etc..?

I saw here that I can substitute nylon tubing for the standoffs.

I'm designing a case (on paper, obviously) which I will upload when I finish with it. But before that can wood be used to make a case?

(If you have any external links supporting your answer, that would be great, but if you don't but know what you're talking about, please do tell me)

Thanks!

Well, you may need to varnish or otherwise coat it (That would be recommended) and sand it to lessen potential friction; build up of static electricity. Your measurements will need do be very precise, too. Make sure that no component is touching the wood (the hard-drives may be OK) Simply use screws for the HDDs and motherboard (In the motherboard [Where the standoffs would be] put a one way screw with a bolt on it, over the wood. Put the motherboard over this and another bolt on top, locking it in position) For the HDD's use the screw-holes on the side. Put a one way screw that FITS through the side of this case and into that, locking it in position, yet making sure you do not screw it too far into the HDD as this can cause damage...

Good luck!
