Hi everyone, I'm looking at building a gaming rig, mainly for Overwatch and Rocket League and CS:GO. I've already got a Power Color HD 6970 2gb dGPU from a friend, but I'm not sure about what CPU to pair it with. The time that it takes for me to get this pc will be the same for the i3 and the Pentium, but I'd have to wait a little longer for the A10. I can't find anything online comparing these CPUs, so any help would be greatly appreciated. In the future, I'm planning on upgrading my GPU to maybe a sapphire r9 380x nitro, but you never know what new graphics cards will be coming out in the future. Anyway, any help with which CPU to choose will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, everyone seems to be saying that intel CPUs are always better for the price, so now it's down to the pentium or the i3. For the games that I'll be playing (Overwatch, Rocket League, maybe a little bit of some racing games) is it worth it to spend twice the price of the Pentium and get the i3?

G4560 and 6100 will be identical in that regard and will always beat the 7890k. To me the 4560 is a no brainier for budget right now. It's cheaper and can be upgraded all the way to a i7 7700 with no other upgrades than dropping a new CPU in

I have an A10 7850k its overclocked to 4.5ghz and the APU side of it is OC'd too - for the games you mentioned its perfect because you won't need an additional graphics card and you will still get 40 fps @720p

the i3 is a waste of time because for gaming purposes the G4560 is basically identical and half the price - you will need a graphics card with these cpu's though!!!

the advantage of the intel chips is that they can be upgraded without buying a new motherboard - the amd advantage is that for low/mid end games its an all in one solution

the disadvantage of the intel is that you need to go buy a gpu (not a problem if you want one anyway) the disadvantage of the amd is that the motherboard it works on is FM2+ which doesn't have a lot of new chips coming out on anymore, its basically only supporting these new A10s

I appreciate that you still reply after a while :). Thanks for the feedback, I'm buying a g4560 with an asrock b250m pro4 and 8gb ddr4 :). As for the graphics card, I have received a HD 6970 from a friend, plenty of power for the games I want to play at the moment (Overwatch, Rocket League, CS:GO).
