Hi, I recently updated the bios on this motherboard to give protection from Spectre with the X4 950 AMD CPU. However despite Gigabyte suggesting various BIOS updates Inspectre which detects the vulnerability still shows my PC is vulnerable. According to Gigabyte the protection should have been enabled but it is not. Gigabyte seem to have given up but I was wondering if anyone has any idea why this is happening and what if anything can be done about it.

Regards Steve

there are more variants of spectre that have recently been found but it would have patched the first round of it. just make sure to keep windows fully updated

Hi Thanks for your reply. I have been using the GRC Inspectre utility that can detect the Spectre vulnerabilities and also the Ashampoo spectre and meltdown checker. Both say, even after the BIOS updates, that the PC is still vulnerable. The Inspectre utility is based on Microsofts checking process but does it graphically I don't know any other ways to check and I can't see why it's doing this.
