Hi Guys,
Im attempting to install an operating system on a PC for someone but am a bit stuck. The BIOS for this motherboard does not detect a HDD, only the CDD. During the POST process the RAID menu option pops up and when I enter that it does detect a HDD. I have checked in the BIOS options to see if there is an option to turn SATA on (Its a SATA drive BTW) but there isnt. Only A sort of boot order option which gives you the choice between SCSI, SATA or SATA, SCSI. I also notice that the BIOS option to check for a HDD only says IDE. I managed to get the windows disk (XP BTW) to load but it didnt detect the HDD either. Will the old F6 additional drivers and raid drivers for this motherboard work or is there something else I need to try?

I wont be working on it until this evening as I have work during the day and thought Id ask to save me the headache if its not that. Cheers

check the connections, power and data leads to the HDD, if not try the HDD in another machine/enclosure to check that the HDD actually works.

I have had a few HDD that had flaky sata data connections, sometimes a different sata cable or jiggling the port helped. Good Luck
