Hi all,

My ASUS A7V133 has two extra IDE slots for use with a raid configuration. Is it possible to use these two extra slots to connect my CD/DVD drives? Will there be any ill effecs? Thanks!

Actually i dont think so.
those 2 extra slots are for the onboard RAID/IDE controller.

you can run up to 4 cd drives on the standard slots, but i THINK only IDE hard drives can be run on the extra channels.

Yes, they do, but I wouldn't recommend running non-hard disk devices on them.

This may be a very dumb question, but do you have to connect two drives to use the raid ports? Could u just use them as normal extra hdd controllers?

It's not neccessary to connect 2 HDs in order to use RAID controller. You can use them as normal IDE controller.
