So i recently did a build with an AMD A8-6600k APU for light gaming and CAD use but I have found its laggy even on medium settings in far cry 3 (all medium settings, high 20s low 30 FPS). I don't game much but I did expect more from the APU. I'm considering adding an HD 6670 card as they are only like ~$60, but 1. I'm not sure if 1gb of DDR5 or 2gb of DDR3 is better, and 2. If it will give enough boost over the APU to perform better in games like far cry.

I have 8gb 2133mhz ram downclocked to 1866 since the a8-6600k is only rated to 1866 (bios automatically recognized it as 1866 too so I didn't want to screw with it)

THe box states it can accept both 6570 and 6670

The whole reason I went with an APU was because of my budget. Selling my APU at a loss then buying a new one would be useless if the same money can be set towards dual graphics which in theory should perform better than the 7600 (I think?)

Thanks for the reply, the ram is AMD Radeon so I doubt setting a profile will be any issue, but will it work properly even though my CPU is only rated at 1866? These HD6570/6670 cards must be really old, It's nearly impossible to find a decent brand in stock.

Ill look into the 7600, but after only having a computer a week I wouldn't be thrilled about changing the processor, though if it offers significant benefit for only like $20 more CPU and $30 more graphics card it may be worth it.
