a8-7600 + gtx 960, worth upgrading to r5 1400???

i currently have a a8-7600 apu with a gtx 960
do you guys think upgrading to r5 1400 would give me any better performance with that 960 or is a r5 1400 way overkill for that gtx 960?

Not overkill at all. But if your issue is fps, then a faster card may be better. If you need better cpu performance in multiplayer gaming on a busy server however, then the CPU upgrade will be the way to go... with a new board and RAM, of course.

Your CPU is what's hold you back in most cases. That 1400 would definitely throttle an apu. I'd suggest getting a 1500x it's not a ton more and can oc to 3.6-3.7 easily on the stock cooler. It's cheaper than buying a 1400 plus a good enough cooler to oc it much.
