AMD cards have been known to use higher CPU resources as compared to Nvidia cards. Although it happened in the R7 and R9 series, no proof of that yet happening in the RX series. Getting an RX 460 for your CPU would of course cause a bottleneck in some games, but not so much that you wouldn't want to pair it with one. Games that have Vulkan support will have a way lesser CPU bottleneck, although there isn't much Vulkan supporting games yet, I believe it's still worth getting...

I understand this would disable the apu graphics but would the apu cause a severe bottle neck to the rx460 graphics card performance? As I am after increased graphics performance for gaming so don't mind disabled the apu graphics to gain better performance

Another option is to wait for lower end Nvidia Pascal cards, though you would still have to wait several more months, based on Nvidia's history of releasing cards.

Brands to avoid: None really (at least for manufacturers of RX 460)

Brands that are slightly better: Hard to tell, that would come down to the little things that are not really mentioned in the specs, like the heatsink in VRMs, and other stuff.

I recommend getting the cheapest RX 460 available, as that would give the most value for money, and the best partner for you CPU.
