Ok so i am basing a new computer around the Asus A8N SLI Deluxe and after hearing how loud the chipset fan is ... id like to replace it. so my question to you guys is

1) would the Zalman ZM-NB47J northbridge heatsink be sufficent to cool the chip on this mobo or do i need a more substantial cooler and

2) what chipset coolers would you guys recomend?

thanks guys

if it dosnt interfere my question is more would that particuler heatsink be sufficent to cool the Nvidia4 chipset? i dont want to put the thing on and then have it mealt cause it wasnt cooling as much as the chip needed, after all the board comes with a fan/heatsink on the chipset already so ...

I've never done the finger test on a SLI NB, but the nforce chipsets are notoriously cool. You could probably get away without the fan. Personnally I would just replace the fan with an old s7 cpu fan, circa 233 days. It looks like the screw holes would even match.

hrmm ... im trying to make a "quiet" pc so ... fanless would be good. im putting this all in a Thermaltake SOPRANO with the window and thus side fan (practically over the northbridge) + a Zalman 7700 ALCU so ... i think it should provide sufficent cooling. ill test it and get back to you guys

I recommend you simply unplug your chipset fan, and leave it intact, so your mobo warranty isn't void. You can also reduce noise with a 12 or 14cm side fan power supply and fanless video card.
