Can i use my old mainboard for an fx8530/r9 390 update? (my old specs: AMD FX-4130/GeForce GTX650)

Solution
Just make sure to upgrade the BIOS and you should be fine. They are the same socket CPU and usually just drop in and work no problem.

The board only has PCI-E 2.0 though so keep that in mind.

Is this your motherboard? http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=576 If so, then you know there's no way it can support an FX-8350. The best CPU that you can install is the FX-8370E with the stock cooler to cool the VRM.

Edit: If you don't already have that motherboard, then don't buy it.

Thank you for the reply. Yes i got that motherboard. Bought a pc for 400€, 2 years ago. Was my first pc and now i want to update it "by myself" but its way harder then i thought .

"Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P AMD 970 So.AM3+ Dual Channel DDR3 ATX" is the cheapest i could find that supports the fx-8350

Thank you very much. also for the link. now i know i can lookup pages like that one. :)
