AAA games crash on my pc

I built my first ever pc and it crashes after playing graphic intensive games such as bf4, fallout 4, the Witcher 3, etc. Games such as DayZ run fine on pretty high graphics. If I set the gpu fan to 75% the games run substantially longer before crashing. Specs are fx 8350, gtx 960 ssc 2gb, 8gb ddr3 ram, msi 970 gaming mobo, cx600m psu. From my research these specs should be able to handle ultra to high graphics pretty easily. I only have one 20mm case fan and the stock cpu cooler. If anyone has any clues as to why I am having these problems, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Also I have unparked my cpu cores if that makes any difference.

Solution
The FX-8350 has a max core temp of 62C before throttling and in my experience will go to 80C or 90C before going into thermal shutdown. Check your heatsink that you have it mounted properly, and also put a few more fans in there. There's no specific amount, but the more the better.

Sorry I didn't mean to vote down your answer. The temps get up to 80 c and then the games crash. How many fans do you suggest I use?

Hi DrewChestHair007 ... I came across your frustrations here and would like to offer my 2 cents if not more.... If I may add, probably you could look at another angle. I too had similar crashing issues with my AMD A10 7850k rig with a slightly lower spec pc compared to yours: 6GB DDR3 Ram, Nvidia GT740, with 2 500GB HDDs. I have Witcher 3, Dying Light and Fallout 4 with no hiccups and all now run smoothly after a lot of trial and errors and tweaking (yes, with unparked cpu cores too). This solution could probably work for a non A Series APU.. It could probably not be confined to a heat issue, because I thought that was the case with my constant crashes. If you are okay with diverting your attention from the heat issue for a moment, you could try the steps (where applicable) in my article and let me know how it goes. Would be interesting if it would solve the issue for an AMD FX Series.
