How come the ABIT AW8D 975x has no core2 support?

I find this puzzling. Is AMD late with a compatible bios?

Even if so, there would still be a need for another non core2 LGA775 processor to POST before applying the compatible not yet release bios update.

What is ABIT up to? Looks like a good MB gone to the waste side.

check out these specs on the AW8D and the AW9D which does support core2 ~ the link it just below:

The AW8D does not sport a PWM that supports VRM11 which is required by the Core 2 Duo processors. A BIOS flash will not solve it. This is where the AW9D came in.

Before Core 2 Duo hit the market, some people thought if they just bought a 975X board they would be able to drop in a Core 2 Duo just because they bought a 975X board. They thought wrong.

If you want to run a Core 2 Duo, do not get the AW8D. Get the AW9D.
