abit IC7-MAX3 *DELETED*

Tom's didn't like the Abit IS7, but Anandtech loved it. I've spoken with several owners and they mostly loved theirs as well. As for the IC7, it cost more and has fewer features than the IS7.

Serveral owners of the Epox board have recommended them.

As for your system combos:

The K8N Neo Platinum and A64 3200+ sounds like a great combo.

I already talked about the P4 platform, for more information on the voltage issue read my review at http://www.sysopt.com

On the "low end", I'd go with with an Abit NF7-S (actually a high end board) and the Mobile XP2500+, then I'd overclock the CPU to 2200MHz (200x11) for XP3200+ performance.

Sorry, I meant the P4C800-E Deluxe. The review is a few months old now, but you can read it HERE

So that is you that wrote that review? You are like famous, dude. wow. I read through that yesterday and saw the link to people soldering some little device to their mobos. How in the heck people solder something that small withough frying the mobo is beyond me. Someone would have to be an electrical engineer to read the schematics and a skilled technician with the proper equipement to solder it. Wow. Is that votage thing a problem in ocing only?

But hey, I tell you what you guys pretty much talked me out of that board and blew my p4 platform ideas out of the water. I guess I really am going to go athlon 64, lol.
If I hadn't started posting on this forum about a week ago I would probably have that board and be sticking a 2.8c p4 in it about now. 😛

Sure, A64, P4, doesn't really matter to ME what you get. The best board I've read reviews on is the MSI K8N Neo Platinum.

Yea, I know that is why I appreciate the advice. The more objective the better. I was feeling sorry for amd when I was leaning p4, now I am starting to feel a bit sorry for intel. The nforce3-250gb chipset seems like the latest inovation for sure. Not as impressed with the p4 platforms after doing the research. Wouldn't mind sticking with an abit board though. I was leaning asus but started thinking about the reliablity I have gotten from abit. That asus p4c800-e delux is one of the more expensive p4 boards and it has not budged in price over the last 5 months or so I have been planning this upgrade. If it isn't "perfect" I sure can't see spending $180 on it though. Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

*still waffling on spending the $*
