Hey guys just wondering if the pc i'm gonna make is able to play games such as fallout 3 or maybe even metal gear solid 5?
(Small Form Factor Desktop)
My specs:
Cpu- AMD Athlon 64 X2 (3 GHz)
Ram- 8GB DDR3
HDD: 160GB 5400 RPM
OS: Windows 7 Professional

(P.S. I'm also thinking to buy a graphics card but don't know where to start?)

Solution
The CPU and HD are useless for newer games, a 160 gig 5400 RPM drive is likely quite a few years old and will run slow. The CPU is VERY outdated, it's better than a Pentium 4 but not as good as the Core 2 Duos.

You need to start with a new system, for a lower end gaming system you are looking at about $500, for something that can play at higher quality or more demanding games, about $750.
Probably going to need a little more information, such as your budget and what parts you need.

I can't imagine ever recommending someone *build* a PC around something as old as the Athlon 64 X2s, which are all going on a decade old (or already there, but the 3.0 GHz ones aren't quite there yet). You can't use DDR3 memory, either - whether you need an AM2 or a 939 motherboard depends on the exact CPU you're actually looking at.

Now, you can play Fallout 3 with a 64 X2 and a GPU from the time given that it's a game from 2008. Metal Gear Solid 5? That's a huge stretch. You can play it on CPUs under the recommended i5-4460, but this is just too many generations old now.
